Popular Archeological Research Paper TopicsThere are a number of popular archeological research paper topics that students interested in archaeology and archaeology may want to explore. One such topic is a general approach to the question of early human settlements. As an introduction to such research, it is essential to have a clear understanding of the archaeological evidence regarding our earliest ancestors, and the significance of this history to our modern world.
There are a number of widely held views on the antiquity of early humans, ranging from early Homo erectus, about two million years ago, living in the forests of southern Africa. This is thought to be early hominid evolution, and has spawned many hypotheses and the study of cultural continuity and variation among different groups of early humans. In Australia, the discovery of a hominid remains known as Australopithecus media may allow us to understand what the environment was like for these early hominids. This discovery, together with evidence of early humans in the Mediterranean basin, mean that there is a body of information that allows us to understand the archaeology of the period where the earliest hominids lived. The fact that Homo erectus lived in the Mediterranean basin means that if we can discover a hominid here, it would be possible to reconstruct a migration of the species. One popular topic is the question of whether the first H. erectus were in fact farmers or whether they were more fit than their contemporaries. Modern humans are considered to be the direct descendants of Africa's nomadic herdsmen who may have supplemented their primary source of protein through hunting. However, since the transition from hunting to farming in North Africa, there has been an increased demand for human food, and it is now possible to see evidence of human settlement from the Middle East to Southern Africa. It is thought that the spread of farming occurred because of a shift in the selection pressures between the traits of human predators and their prey. In other words, it was easy to achieve larger amounts of protein, and so in times of famine, there were sufficient resources available to pursue this new lifestyle. When considering the early humans of the Middle East, there are some problems. For example, humans who inhabited the area may have seen the cessation of long-distance trade from Egypt, which may have disrupted the activities of the earlier H. erectus, and may well have contributed to the disruption of food chains. Another common idea is that the Middle East became rich because of the presence of salt caves and aquifers, providing a crucial resource for the farmers. The debate continues to rage as to whether early humans were pre-agricultural, or whether they followed the patterns of their contemporary hunter-gatherers. However, there is no doubt that prehistoric humans first discovered a simple way to provide themselves with food. In the past, the wild plants of the East African savannahs are thought to have played a crucial role in the early human populations. The archaeological record shows that many groups of early humans traveled through the equatorial rainforests to the south. The reason for the long journeys remains unclear, but it was likely that they followed the nutrients in the grasses, which provided a significant source of protein, with other plants providing other substances necessary for survival. The problem of dealing with early human communities in Europe is the subject of much research. The sudden increase in the number of humans visiting this continent during the Neolithic periods is thought to have brought significant changes in the way that human populations interacted. They developed methods of taking goods from the local markets, while also recognising the importance of marrying within their own group.
